My wife and I booked what was supposed to be a romantic anniversary weekend at the Fireside Lodge. Everything was going... well until upon arriving we attempted to take a quick shower before going out for dinner. There was no cold water only hot which made for a scalding hot shower. We reported it to management\the front desk and were assured when we returned it would be fixed and that they manager would call us with an update. Needless to say we never received an update. When we went back to the room we were told that they had no idea what was causing the issue but that the water was warm not hot. It was still scalding hot. Due to their policy the manager was trying to tell us they could not do much as all the comparable rooms were already booked. This was completely unacceptable as this was a special occasion. With the maintenance staff unable to fix it and there not being any rooms open for us we asked for a refund. We hadn't even been there one night and the manager refused. I became increasingly frustrated and the manager threatened to call the police instead of working with us to improve the experience. He admitted he wasn't old enough to drink and that he was covering for his parents while they were on vacation. Proves as to why he did not have any customer service etiquette. My wife began to go over the policy with him and in the end after speaking to his parents he refunded the money. We ended up at the Robinhood resort which offered MUCH better amenities and quality customer service. Do not stay at this hotel.read more

Just checking out from our one night stay at the fireside lodge. We have travelled to the states from the UK and the... big bear lake was one of the places we wanted to do within our travels. WOW 😍 the fireside lodge exceeding expectations massively . The room was lovely from everything from the bedding to to the fire place in the room . Great hot shower and toiletries including makeup wipes was a massive plus for me 😂🥰 location was great right next to the village with the bars and still a close walk to the lake staff was lovely and was a very pleasurable stay thank you team 💓read more

What a wonderful experience. Delightful staff, clean comfortable and spacious Chalets. This is now my new home away... from home, for a weekend or longer. Lake is only a moment away. The sunset from the shore here is spectacular. Oh did I mention the fireplace and pool. Between the mountain air and their beds you will sleep all night and then some. I will definitely be back, join me won't you. Thank you so much my new friends here at The Fireside Lodge, see you again.

Enjoyed your stay at the Fireside Lodge. The staff was welcoming and helpful in pointing out areas of interest in the... local area.
We stayed in the two bedroom Villa and it was so cozy and perfect for our family of four and pups.
Location is centered to all the places we wanted to see, super convenient and parking at the lodge was never an issue. Highly recommend and we will be going back soon.read more

I love this place. We got to suites and it was fully loaded with a kitchen and hot tub. Not to mention fireplaces in... both rooms. I loved the names and cutes pictures on the doors. Balcony was to die for too. Will be back again!read more

Despite of the "not so good" comments I decided to give it a chance because nowadays people want to be treated like... royalty and expect a Hilton presidential suite for $100 dlls. Staff was friendly, easy and quick check in. Room was very relatively small, but super cozy for 2 people. It was very clean, it looks like they updated linens recently. Bathroom was clean, everything in good condition, hot water working good. Heater, t.v., little fridge, microwave, and coffemaker working nice. They even had 2 bags of popcorn. I would definitely stay there again. Plus, it was like a block from The Village, and like 5 min driving to the Summit.read more

Last minute we decided to do a 2 day mini vacation to Big Bear.....someplace I've never been. Fireside was VERY... affordable so our expectations were a little low, but it was within walking distance to a bunch of places which we liked. We walked into our room (#8) and it was AMAZING!!!! Extremely clean, awesome fireplace, TWO full bathrooms, private hot tub and fenced in yard for our dog Gracie!!! Yep pet friendly😊 We also had a view of Big Bear lake from our little backyard! We would recommend this place 100% and will stay here every time we come back to Big Bear!!!!read more

Bed bugs!!! Bed bugs bite in line formations and we woke up with bites going down our backs and legs really nasty ones.... While I was trying to sleep I felt itching and biting but everytime I scrathed it would come right back on the same area and itch again like little bites. We thought we were trippin util we saw the bites and also saw another review about room 24 having bed bugs. Ewwww...We are never renting low price rooms again. We will stick to the bigger cleaner pricier hotels from here on out.read more

Bed Bug Alert!!! Room 24 on the night of 10/29/17. This is a small motel-like inn. Small rooms, old fixtures, patchy... paint, disrepair. It's in a great location but the price is too high for what you get. The maid left trash in the room and gave us 7 hair conditioners but no soap or shampoo. If I hadn't had the bed bug problem, this place would have only gotten 2 stars. But the bed bugs just topped it off. I am highly reactive to bed bugs (only about 10-20% of people react the way i do) so I know for sure it was bed bugs. I will never stay here again.read more

Good location-short walk to lake & The Village. Very helpful & courteous staff. Ask for Christina, very bright young... lady who answered any question I had about the town during my stay. Rooms overlook the lake with partial views but still enough to see. Would stay again.read more

My husband and I arrived on a Saturday and stayed overnight. We stayed in a lakeside room with a view of Big Bear Lake... from both rooms with a balcony to step out on and enjoy the cool fresh outdoors. There were two full bathrooms but we only used the one outside our little kitchen . It was equipped with a stove, microwave oven and a small refrigerator. We had a wood burning fireplace and a futon for any guest. The bedroom had a king size bed. After spending the day downtown shopping and going to Peppercorn Grill for dinner we spent the evening in from of the fireplace. TV was awful as far as choices of what to watch. A lot not in English. The only downfall was the futon....the mattress/cushion needs to be replaced. So uncomfortable. I was there 8 years ago in the same room with the same furniture. So it's time to replace please. Also, the chair. I sat in it and didn't even realize there was a cushion in it. Ugh! It's not a luxurious modern place but I love wood furniture, rustic type setting. Office staff is very helpful and accommodating. I hope to return again.read more

Absolutely the best location and service in Big Bear. The ownership, management and the staff are extremely friendly.... We had a situation where our date of stay had to be changed. They were very accommodating and were able to change our dates with no extra charge. Couldn’t be happier with their service and I highly recommend this place if you ever go to big bear. Stayed here in December. The room was nice, but floors were dirty. There was a noise every night like a generator going... off every 30 minutes. Even with ear plugs, I was able to hear the noise. Very hard to sleep. Location is great.read more

There was a very strong nauseating flowery odor in my room that was making me feel sick. It smelled like possibly bug... spray or way overdone room spray. I opened the window with a fan, but the room was saturated with the smell. Still not enough to clear it out with fan. Complained to manager who denied smelling it. Argued with him for an hr. about either putting me into a different room, or giving me a refund. This was a real drag after a long, exhausting drive. I just needed to sleep. He sent one of his relatives up to the room. He also denied the smell according to the manager, but could not speak much English to communicate with me. So he went back and got the manager; who would do nothing until i suggested that i might want to call the health dept. to see if they noticed the sickening odor. He claimed that they did not have any vacancies to place me in another room, however, there were only two vehicles in the whole large parking lot. He simply would not give me a refund. But eventually came up with another room. It was kind of dirty and had a centipede and old tissue under the bed sheets. It was directly above their apartment and office on location, a few doors away, it was smaller, older looking. They were very loud downstairs, but there were earplugs on the nightstand by the bed. They were unopened so i used them. The tv didn't work and the coffee pot cord was too short. I had to plug it into the bathroom sink the following morning in able to use it. He had finally shown me a couple of other rooms, but they all wreaked of that hideous odor. The whole ordeal robbed me of needed rest, so i was tired the next day.read more

we booked room for falling snow thanksgiving 2 days but the trails was blocked by police man so we drove 7 hours (... normally 2 hours ) still on the way , we called service said situation and not our faults Hope got refund but they were ruled and refused. Then they changed to Before Christmas, when we got there no snow no fun , and the rooms too small too dirty , the kitchen horrible to use very not convenient. So disappointed for this hotel broken our holiday and wasted so much money not worth at all ! No recommend this hotel for everyone !read more

We didn’t have many options but this place cost as much as I’ve paid for nice rooms at the beach. The sheets smell VERY... strongly of detergent. My eyes are red and itchy. The walls are paper thin. The shower is almost tolerable. The office staff are nice. The bed is ok.read more

NO AIR CONDITIONING! We paid $200.00 for one night and no where on the website did it say they didn't have air... conditioning in any rooms. It was extremely HOT and the room never cooled off. There were dead spiders on the floor. And the refrigerator leaked water in the floor. Sounded like a herd of elephants upstairs, guess that was the reason for the earplugs in the room. Definitely will not be staying here again.read more
